New at Applebees

We shopped at Fresh Market yesterday.  It's on the expensive side, but the bakery can't be beat,  Afterwards we went to Applebees for a late lunch.  We did the 2 for $25 option.  They have select appetizers and entrees.  You get 1 appetizer and 2 entrees for $25.  They also have entree options for additional $$s.   We opted for spinach dip which comes with a little salsa and tortilla chips.  It was very bland spinach dip,  Then we got the new burger O-M-cheese Burger.  It comes on a cast iron skillet, cut in half and face down in a pool of cheese.  At least it is supposed to.  We found the cheese on the skillet became overcooked and less like a pool and more like stuck to the skillet.  The burger did taste good, but it was advertised as having a spicy mustard and we couldn't taste it.   Next my boyfriend got the new dirty soda,  He had the berry Mt. Crockpot Brunswick Stew

We had a funeral last weekend and someone brought over Brunswick Stew.  I had never had it before so I tried it and went home to make my own version. Ingredients: Boneless chicken thighs, 1-2 pounds 1 cup frozen corn, I used Trader Joes roasted corn 1 cup frozen lima beans 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes 1 onion, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 cup bbq sauce, I would use something mild and maybe less next time.  I used Baby Ray 3 cups chicken broth 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 bay leaves 1 teaspoon paprika 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Salt and pepper Directions:  Place everything in the crockpot, cook on high for 4+ hours, pull chicken thighs out and cut on a cutting board, return to the stew.  Serve with bread and butter.  We had sourdough
